Sad world...

Recent journal entry:

What the fu****g hack!! Today I got the keys to my first and new flat. I saw that my former plans for my litte gallery are not so fine. So I decided to take some shots which fit together thematically, to have a concept for my flat's walls. Architecture.

I went to the "federal office of radiation protection" (well that's a bad translation but it should be ok) because it's the only interesting building here. Before I took a single shot, a guard came to me, asking me the following:
"Hey master, what are these images for?!"
("hey master" could be translated as "hey mate" or "hey you obscure guy" lol )
1. I'm not his master...I should have answered "I'm not your master, if you want a master, go to the SM studio." (cause...you know...I'm more of a slave or pet :XD: )
2. Why does he ask me why I make images? I'm pretty sure that this is of no concern for him.

He had to throw me off the this area. The funny thing: he told me that when I take the shots from 10 m across the street, he could do nothing against it (he had to follow orders but I think he wanted to help me). However, from across the street the images look shitty and they reveal more detail of the building and it's employees than taken with a wideangle lens right beneath/under the building/architecture Oo .

Another question: Why is a federal office not a public building? It's right beneath the railway station in a rather populated area of the city. And why am I not allowed to photograph non-public buildings. What's so secretly going on there? It's no launchpad for nuclear weapons...it's a building full of people who sit behind desks and who are bureaucratically managing issues about natural radiation and protection of humans and nature from radiation. There are thousands of security cameras and one side of the building is even protected by a fence and barbed wire (well the other side looks quite pretty though).
The father of my very first girlfriend works there, so I've already been inside this building, many years ago. :lmao:

And now the artistic question of the day: Why do they hire an expensive architect to build an interesting building, when it is not allowed to photograph it and to have fun with it? What is the beauty of the building for? Who is the beauty of the building for? Is it for the few people who work there...to give them a more beautiful place to work? I guess they are happy when they don't have to see their place of work when they come home...

It's impossible in this world to be non-depressive, because everytime I try to get out and do something funny and creative, there is something which destroys it.

This is an animation I made for the trailer of a movie, it's reduced in size (0.5x) and the compession is very strong (XviD quality 89) so the image quality is terrible...you need a DivX codec to run it but I'm sure you already have this ;P ). I bought the missing 2 aluminum pipes, now they are all complete and I just have to find time and the will to work on them.

Material listing:
8x 25 mm x 25 mm x 2000 mm aluminium pipes.................................about 164 $
screws with nuts (100x), M5x40 mm..............................................................11 $
shims (250x).................................................................................................7 $

8 inch project:

8 inch mirror and tool

The 8 " mirror ist spherical now. Phase 1 of 3 ist finished, I'm now up to smooth it out until it's smooth enough for polishing and parabolisation.

I've detached parts of telescope, washed and cleand the pieces several times with a solvent. I cleaned the metal from fat, dirt and the solvent using ammonia solution and a ton of tissues, I didn't touch the metal except with gloves, sprayed the grounding on the telescope parts, sprayed the black colour on the grounded telescope parts...and then?!? It partially peeled off while/after drying!! Here are some of the parts, 3 are missing because colour and grounding peeled off together (the bright spots on the black parts are highlights - the colour was still wet during the shot):

8 inch tube, screwed up

Here are some other parts, in this case it didn't pelt off but after I sprayed the second layer of black colour on it, it became wrinkly. :cries:
That indicates that it would have pelt off after a while anyway... :cries:

8 inch tube, screwed up

Why is it impossible to get colour on aluminium?!? Do I make the layers too thick??

I wouldn't say that when I see your gallery!
I think they are afraid you are a terrorist with a missile under your coat trying to run in like a freak and bomb the building...no? I have the same, but somewhat more understandable, problem. I am working on a petrochemical plant right now (for school, "stage" in dutch, too lazy to look it up in english), and the sun sets when I come home, so I can't take any beautiful weathery pictures on the site. They are afraid I might take pictures with machinery on it, (espionage)...I still haven 't had the chance to shoot with the 10mm in daylight. But that will come...

Cheer up, your gallery is awesome, you don't have to complain!

Once I was changing film in analog camera in subway :D haha, in few seconds guard appeared and said that I'd better put my camera to backpack. I said: "c'mon, I'm just changing film" Yep, this is how todays world looks like...

Congrats on getting the keys, now you're actually living there, huh? How is it going?

..I'll write again soon, didn't have time, but I just read your journal and..well, it's *obvious* that privat territory shouldn't be banned on photos by anyone. Imagine you had a nice, privat little centre for radiation whatevers and employed some workers there. Working space is privat space. You, as their boss, couldn't guarantee that everyone who could accidentally be spotted on the pic does agree with being banned on film.

Another reason I could imagine: They don't want let headhunters know who works there. This isn't just made up and exaggerated since my bf told me that there were people in their company who made fotos for the web and the employees were substituted by models. Because of the headhunters (and this company is not as huge as the center, so guess how many important people could work *there*).

Another possible reason: If there are supervision cameras that can be spotted on the film, a potential terrorist/madman/whatever could make up a plan of how to move or how to get into the building without being spotted. Or at least he could know which camera to disable first (with the stone-in-hand method, not speaking of hackers) if he wants to get there unseen... (now, THIS reason could be to much inspired by splinter cell, but I doubt companies like this wouldn't pay attention to ALL sorts of havoc anyone could spread.)

Don't always complain about the big bad world and the cold and creativity killing people until you know their reasons for restricting some actions.

As said above, your gallery doesn't let you appear to be in lack of creativity. (And, strictly speaking, I think architectural shots are very limitating in means of creativity, there is hardly any perspective that hasn't been found before..)

Best wishes ^^

No, I'm not yet living there. In fact I'm afraid of being alone in Braunschweig even for a few hours. Pressure is extreme at the the moment and all my health issues have become very worse. But I think when this is over it will get much better...if I survive this without becoming crazy.

I mentioned in my journal that I had no idea that the building is private. Your explanation doesn't apply to similar buildings such as banks. In New York City nobody would be allowed to photograph in any direction.
You don't ask every single person in the disco or on the street, who accidentally gets on your shot, if he or she agrees to that.
And, because of the angle of view and the longer focal distance one has to use from a position further away, the individual people in the building are better visible than when the building is photographed with a wideangle from "below" it.

Well my interest was the building, not the people...but that's a bitter stroy about the substitution. Very bold, lol.

The supervision cameras are very good viewable fron any place outside the site of the office. That wouldn't make any difference, a terrorist could stand 15 m away from the building and make all the shots he wants to...or launch a roket  .
The cams are not breakable simply by throwing stones and if they linked the security system to the internet, they would be PRETTY dumb. But I believe that they use passwords even I could hack within just seconds or 5 minutes. It's unbelivable how stupid the people are when it comes to setting up a password. I recommend everyone to inform about the criteria of save passwords. Besides that, sites like dA which have no SSL can be very easily sniffed or attacked. Whatever great password you have, if it's entered in a sniffable site, it's worth nothing. And if someone uses the same password for dA and for online-banking, this someone is sucked very hard. But I'm getting carried away... ^^;

The reason in most cases is: "because it is like it is". I asked the guard why...but he hadn't any explanation, he just tried to evade me and told me what his orders are. There was no sign of a reason an I belive he really doesn't know the reason of his work. So tell him, not me.

I need two images which fit to 'Splashy Drops' to hang them in my room, that's why I chose architecture. What you say about architectural shots aplies to any other category too. Besides that, there is more about an image than just it's perspective.
But you didn't understand the deal about being depressed and taking outside shots. I could> only take shots at home...but that would be quite secluded and depressive. Wasn't it you who told me to go out and connect with the people? Well, I connected...with a guard...lol.

Thanks. (and sorry about my agressiveness (?) ...but it's barely standable)

Yeah...I understand the reasons but it's simply sad, somehow. ...In a subway... :O_o:

Thank you man!
Anyway...they just told me to take the shots from across the street...which surely is a much better postition to lunsh a missile than it it would be right next to the building :XD: . I still don't see too much sense in that. I even could have thrown a bomb at the building from across the street LOL!
